Wrote... Hello: I'm researching a Victorian actress (1866 - 1898) named Charlotte Behrens Hume Mantell. Charlotte was born in, Brooklyn, New York, but her family brought her body back to Philadelphia (where they were apparently living) & buried her either there, or possibly NYC. It's possible that they had a business of some kind in NYC. She died in Port Huron, MI while in a traveling acting company. Charlotte would've likely remained obscure & forever unknown if she hadn't married a well-known (in his time) stage & Shakes Robert Mantell. There was considerable scandal surrounding their union, & Charlotte died young. The entire story is very intriguing & deserves its day. I'm a professional writer & hope to put that story together in book form. I've yet to find any Behrens directly related to Charlotte. Her parents were "C" & "Dina (maybe Dora) Hurst" Behrens.
